Justice Department pushes Google to release search records

The Department of Justice has asked a federal judge to compel Google to release records from it’s search database as part of the government’s defense of the Child Online Protection Act. Google is not part of the lawsuit, but the government hopes that the data will help them find justification for the law.

Google plans to fight the government’s efforts “vigorously”, which is good unless you want the government to know just how often you search for Jessica Alba….
